August Ames (born Mercedes Grabowski; August 23, 1994 – December 5, 2017) was aCanadian pornographic actress and model who appeared in almost 290 movies and won two AVN Awards in 2015 and in 2017.[1][not in citation given]
Early life
Ames was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, but she was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado during her teenage years[2] In her early years, she worked as a nanny, animal-assisted aide and horsebacktrainer.[2]
Career
Her career began in November 2013 with companies such as Evil Angel, Dark X, Girlfriends Films, New Sensations, Elegant Angel, Blacked,Brazzers, Sweetheart Video, Lethal Hardcore and Jules Jordan Video.[3] Some of her best known works were Safe Landings, 8Oil Overload, Don't Tell Hubby, 10 Missing, Spandex Loads, Dirty Talk, Big Wet Breasts, Naturally Delicious, Flesh Hunter, Raw Talent 3 and Titty Attack 8.[3]
Personal life
She was married to Kevin Moore, a pornography producer and director for Evil Angel.[4][5]
Death
On December 5, 2017, Ames was found dead at her home in Camarillo, California at the age of 23.[6] Her death was ruled a suicide by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.[7] Ames committed suicide following successive tweets in which she defended her refusal to perform a pornographic movie with a man who had previously worked in gay porn and sparking an "online firestorm".[8] Friends said she suffered from depression.[9]
